Ethiopia Motherland

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. With respect and pride in our relationship with our partner growers of this remote oasis of coffee, we embarked on a tribute trip to Ethiopia, with the Ethiopia Motherland series bringing 4 unique Microfarm Project coffees to our coffee shops!

Ethiopia Motherland

During the following months, Ethiopia will be the star of our coffee shops, as the Microfarm Project is dedicated to the birthplace of coffee. Ethiopia Damo is the first Microfarm in the Ethiopia Motherland series, which includes four separate Microfarm coffees that will be available at our coffee shops one after one!

one TRIP thousand FLAVOURS

Visiting Addis Ababa, the Coffee Island team had the opportunity to evaluate many different coffees. Of these, two stood out as special in flavor and aroma. But it wasn't just the above features that led the team to decide to share these coffees with our consumer audience. It was also the acquaintance with the small farmers who cultivated the coffee. Their eyes, full of confidence, showed our team that these two people believed in Coffee Island, our knowledge, our culture, our philosophy.
Our priority, as well as those of the small farmers we work with, is to build long-lasting relationships of trust. Relationships of friendship and trust are the key to us sharing knowledge and our philosophy about the care, cultivation, harvesting of raw coffee beans, and ultimately reaching a taste level that will travel our consumers through the first sip, offering them a unique specialty coffee experience.

2nd STOP
yirgacheffe BANKO OKOTO & DOMOTA
ETHIOPIA KUTIGENGE
Ethiopia

The 19th in the series Microfarm Project coffee, was named after two of its growers, Kutiyo Danibe and Tegenge Ocholo! Its characteristics; Flavored with blueberry, apricot and cocoa beans, this 100% specialty arabica coffee is definitely unique, while giving a fruity note to our Ethiopian adventure! Our team met the two elder coffee growers at a difficult time of theirs. All the coffee they had was stored there, back in their backyard, and if they didn't manage to dispose of it, they would go bankrupt. They couldn't send their children to school. We are proud that by purchasing this coffee, without negotiating the price, we were able to contribute to the progress of their children, to invest in the production of their coffee, as through our agreement they will manage to invest in facilities and further improve their production!
