FIGHT LIKE A WOMAN

Every year, on the 8th of March, we celebrate the International Women’s Day! We want to express our appreciation and admiration to all women for their daily struggles and also highlight the need to continue being active, united and strong.

Women are claiming their place in the world, more and more, everyday. The world has had their eyes and ears opened and is ready to listen. The last two years has seen women using their voice on a global scale. One woman’s courage seems to set an example and pave the way for others. From the workplace, to personal relations and social rights, the path to equality has been paved by the brave “attitudes” and achievements of the women that have charted this historic course.

This year, International Women’s Day is championing #ChooseToChallenge! —Encouraging women to raise their hands and tell their story. Women can challenge the world to evolve and not to be complacent. They can raise their hands, both to tell their own story and to give every woman a platform to tell hers.

Let’s remember all the important women who served as catalysts in the world and say their names.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the leader of the women’s rights movement in the late 19th century.

Simon de Beauvoir was a force   in the feminist movement who brought about historic changes. She never considered herself a philosopher, but the influence she exerted through her work was unique in strengthening the movement.

Coretta Scott King also made history through her political struggle for African-American equality and her fight for social rights in the 1960s.

And Maya Angelou was an artist and activist, who exposed and pushed back against racism.

One of the most iconic female personalities in history is Frida Kahlo. Her art, her personal life, and her inner strength were all reasons she received immense recognition from the Mexican nation, as well as the feminist and LGBTQ movement in the 1970s.

Coming forward to the 21st century, Kamala Harris is blazing trails. Having been elected as America’s First Female Vice President, she’s breaking barriers and showing us all what is possible.

We, in our turn, honor the women of Coffee Island with our “Proud to be a Woman” video, which we prepared exclusively for them, with them as protagonists!

The blog will close today wishing every day to be a great World Day for Human Rights and that through being united, we can create a better world for everyone!
